Welcome to Nadi, Fiji's third-largest town and home to the Nadi international airport, the primary take-off and landing place of visitors coming to and leaving Fiji!
Fiji's islands are world-famous for the exciting adventures and relaxing opportunities they afford. Nadi is located on the west side of Viti Levu, Fiji's main island. Nadi has more than 20,000 inhabitants, most of whom are largely Fijian, with a smattering of tourists and Indian citizens.
While it is all gloomy in the construction sector across the country, it is BOOMING in the township of Nadi.
Home to internationally renowned brands such as Sheraton, Radisson, Hilton, Westin, Accor, Mercure, Hard Rock Café and many more, the jetset town is taking off in a big way.
Its town council is being kept busy supervising and approving multi-million dollar projects.
Recently, two major developments has been completed-Port Denarau Retail and Commercial Centre and the Radisson Hotel-are both located in Nadi.
Fijian holdings has spent massively to construct a shopping complex in the heart of Nadi which will also host into a cinema. The construction boom in the small township has prompted the expansion of the town boundary.
Space in the town is shrinking and people are developing just outside the town boundary area.
Feeling that there is a need to control such developments, the town council has made an application to extend its town boundary.
The expansion of the town boundary could also accommodate bigger developments such as hotels. Already some former sugar cane lands are now being developed. Overall, development is much more this year than in previous years.
Shah Group at Nadi back Road is nearing completion of being part of a larger project that will comprise a Fun world centre with water slides, shopping mall and several other attractions.
"Nadi is changing very quickly."
Other major developments in the pipeline includes four shopping malls, six supermarkets (some are already under construction), cinemas and other commercial developments.
The Nadi Town Council is also planning to build its own mall behind its head office.
With all these developments, there is now a demand for housing, as people would like to live close to their workplaces.
